The Pentagon said it’s conducting a review of allegations of misconduct against Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, a former U.S. Navy captain, to determine whether he should be recalled to active duty proceedings. Kelly was among a group of six Senators and members of Congress who released a video last week calling on service members and members of the intelligence community to “refuse illegal orders.” No example of “illegal order” was mentioned. The lawmakers, who are all veterans or former national security officials, also included Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and House members Jason Crow of Colorado, Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, and Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire.
Today, two National Guard members were shot within blocks of the White House. The Department of Homeland Security identified the suspect as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who entered the United States under Operation Allies Welcome. That Biden-era program evacuated and resettled tens of thousands of Afghans after the U.S. withdrawal from that country, without serious vetting, according to current officials.
