As the Minnesota Somali fraud controversy bubbled along, President Trump directed a serious attack on Venezuela that resulted in its President, Nicholás Maduro, and his wife’s being arrested, brought to America, and placed in a Federal prison in Brooklyn, New York. Maduro was indicted in New York on federal charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and two illegal weapons counts based on allegations that he helped ship tons of cocaine to the United States over a period of decades.
The modern raid on Venezuela and Maduro’s capture caused no American casualties, even though it was completed swiftly, but protests erupted quickly in America.
Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, 300 billion barrels. Its type of oil requires a more complex refining process than other varieties. President Trump has met with the largest oil producers to work out the next best steps.
