Lea and Drak conspire to eliminate anti-American Franklin County’s Commissioner in “Stepping on Fingers:”
“Befitting the senior position of his office, Commissioner Soames arrived in a leisurely fashion. As Wilemena Soames’s sparkling blue Honda Clarity Hybrid entered the lot, he spun it around to back into his assigned space, demonstrating that everyone knows that backing into parking spaces demonstrates superior IQ. Soames had been assigned a disabled space because of his delicate “pregnant” condition. That left two disabled spaces for vans empty next to his driver’s side door. Wilemena Soames lingered to complete his makeup by prepping with lipstick, eye shadow, black eyeliner and powder for his long and narrow nose. Preening in the hybrid’s mirror, he combed his long and curly hair with his manicured fingers so that it would look just right.
Waiting only a moment, but what seemed like forever to Lea and Drak, the Bobcat’s driver dipped his chin and accelerated the Bobcat forward at its paltry maximum speed, its motor whining and its tires squealing, while he adjusted the front loader just enough to match the height of Wilemena’s neck. Although Wilemena was intently focused on his makeup, the sound of the Bobcat attracted his attention from across the parking lot. He turned to see the vehicle coming slowly his way and tried to open his door, then was reminded by its tug that his seatbelt was still fastened. As the Bobcat picked up speed and raced closer, Wilemena dropped his lipstick. Looking in the direction of the oncoming Bobcat, Wilemena’s eyes widened with fear as he scrambled to find the catch under his suit jacket needed to unbuckle the seatbelt that was holding him firmly in the driver’s seat. He kept trying to crawl over the Clarity Hybrid’s bulky center console toward the car’s passenger seat and the closed door beyond. The Bobcat lunged into the freshly waxed driver’s door of Wilemena’s blue Clarity Hybrid, shattering its driver’s side window. The raised forklift then bounced off Soames’s left shoulder, digging deeply into his neck, jaw and upper back while he kept trying frantically to reach the passenger’s side door. ”
