The Trump DOJ is taking aim at illegal race-based gerrymandering and voter roll issues, Civil Rights Division chief Harmeet Dhillon said in a Wednesday, Aug. 6, video pegged to the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. These practices involve moving supposedly race-based minorities from one voting district to another. This practice in four Texas voting districts is currently being disputed.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Aug. 7 it was terminating a $7 billion grant program designed to provide solar energy grants to over 900,000 low-income households. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said in a social media video that “very little money has actually been spent,” noting that grant recipients are still in the early planning phase and have not yet begun construction.

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is under criminal investigation for mortgage fraud, a Trump administration source told Fox News. The investigation comes a month after a story broke about the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sending a criminal referral to the Department of Justice (DOJ) alleging that Schiff, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms. In a 2011 affidavit signed by the then-California congressman, Schiff certified that a property in Montgomery County, Maryland, is his primary residence. Schiff also owns a condominium in Burbank, California, which he has also claimed as his primary residence as recently as 2023, during his campaign for Senate.
