The New York intermediate court of appeals has thrown out the $500 million judgment imposed by Judge Engeron against Donald Trump. This case was instigated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who ran for election on the promise to “Get Trump.” As you will note below, Letitia James has now been accused of several varieties of mortgage fraud.

Renewed criticism of the Clinton Foundation centered around donations that it received from a Canadian company called Uranium One, as the company was being sold to a Russian nuclear agency. Clinton, as Secretary of State in the Obama administration, served on a committee that needed to vote to approve the deal at the time.  The FBI opened investigations in Washington, New York City, and Little Rock, Ark. The DOJ under the Obama administration did not make much of the investigations. This frustrated FBI agents who felt that the Obama DOJ was creating an obstacle for their work, according to the New York Times.

Three national figures have now been accused of mortgage application fraud. The most recently accused is Lisa Cook, a Governor of the Federal Reserve Board. Some of the claims against Letitia James allegedly include claiming a residence in Virginia was her primary residence when NY officials must reside in New York, arguing that a building had fewer than the actual number of apartments, and that her father was her husband. Then there’s Adam Schiff, who allegedly obtained a better mortgage rate on a property in Maryland he claimed as his primary residence while representing the State of California in Congress and having a residence there.

On Thursday, August 21, by a vote of 5-4, the Supreme Court allowed the National Institutes of Health, the largest public funding source for biomedical research in the world, to terminate $783 million in grants linked to DEI initiatives. In an unsigned order, the court also granted a request from the Trump administration to pause a ruling by a federal judge in Massachusetts that required the federal government to continue making those payments.
